What keeps you from going all in?

Image
What happens when God calls you to step out from the comfort of your safe little box? Do you step out and say, ‘okay God, it’s You and me?’ Or do you say, ‘no way’ and triple check that the door is securely bolted? So what keeps you from going all in?  Fear, doubt, anxiety, isolation, depression, business…just to name a few. Whenever I am going through something, somehow God reminds me of the promises He’s made. A scripture verse or an encouraging word from someone helps bring my focus back on Him.  Fear has kept me from doing the things that I’ve wanted to do for most of my life. I’ve been told many times that I wasn’t good enough and made to feel worthless. I stayed in my corner, safe in my box afraid to take a leap of faith and step out. Over the years I have set so many goals for myself, but the voice in my head made sure that I would stay right where I was. It is an ongoing battle that even now as I am writing this, the voice is telling me that nobody cares about wh...

Hello everyone! I wrote this poem when I felt alone and that no one understood my pain.  I think about, (and sometimes sing), the words and let it minister to my heart.  God is always there when we need Him.  He hasn't left us to figure things out for ourselves.  No, He wants us to lean on Him and trust that He will carry us through whatever storm we are facing.  Be encouraged and let the words minister to your heart as well!! <3 Have a blessed day!! Take My Hand Take my hand, Lord I pray Walk beside me everyday I give to You, all that I am Lord take my hand Take my hand, guide me Lord Carry me through the roughest storm I give to You, all that I am Lord take my hand Copyright© Lisa Robertson March 29, 1999 All Rights Reserved

Know Your Enemy

The thief does not come except to steal , and to kill , and to destroy . I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.   John 10:10   The enemy’s main goal is to destroy us and to keep us from God our Father.   Each of us is born with a purpose.   In 1 Samuel 17 we read the story of David and Goliath.   Goliath was a Philistine and stood six cubits and a span or about 9 feet 9 inches.     He was the champion of the Philistines and the bible says in verses 5 – 7 “ He had a bronze helmet on his head and wore a coat of scale armor of bronze weighing five thousand shekels; on his legs he wore bronze greaves, and a bronze javelin was slung on his back.   His spear shaft was like a weaver’s rod, and its iron point weighed six hundred shekels. His shield bearer went ahead of him.”   Goliath was ready for battle.  When we get ready for battle the bible says in Ephesians 6:10-18 that we ne...

Ignite Summer Youth Camp - 2017

Last week Thursday we made the two hour+ drive to Warrenton, OR for Youth Summer Camp. This was the first youth camp that Jeff and I have been a part of, we were excited and nervous at the same time. Surprisingly, the kids were energized after the long bus ride, while I was ready for lights out haha! Hey I'm old! lol After a time of devotions, they played games and a nacho bar was set up for snacks. Then it was lights out HALLELUJAH!! 😊 We spent most of Friday down in Seaside where the five teams challenged each other in arcade games, scavenger hunt, and other fun events. We went to Sunset Beach and watched the beautiful sunset, (I wished I remembered to take a picture!), played volleyball and a VERY competitive game of tug of war. **Everyone stands in a circle holding approximately 2' of rope in each hand. A trash can is placed in the middle and the object is to get a person to either touch the trash can or let go of the rope. Last man standing is the winner.** Hotdogs and ...

"If Your Life Was a Book, What Would the Title Be?"

Hmm…what would the title be? As I sit and ponder on this question, a few titles come to mind.   ‘God’s Not Finished with Me Yet,’ ‘He’s Still Working on Me,’ or maybe, (just for fun), ‘Keep Chuggin’ Along!’ The last suggestion was of course just for fun, but encouraging don’t you think? Throughout my walk with Christ, I have faced many trials.  The path that God has laid out for me is often times a difficult one to follow.   I find myself wanting to control every situation in my life.  My way will undoubtedly bring chaos and anxiety.   My way will NEVER work.   Because no matter how much I try to control the situation, GOD IS IN CONTROL !!! No matter how much I plea and cry out to Him, if it's not His will, it’ll never be.  I must put my trust in Him and believe that He knows what's best for me. Learning to trust someone, (even if it's the Creator of the Universe), has been something I've battled with for most of my li...

Rise Up and Pray for Our Children!

The other night while watching Facing the Giants, God revealed something to me.  It was during the scene where the older gentleman prayed as he walked down the hallway while laying hands on the students’ lockers.  Over the next few days I could not get that scene out of my head.  I prayed and asked God what does He want me to do? He said, encourage the church to take their children back from the lies of the enemy!! I pray that this will shake you up as it did me when God first laid this question on my heart. I pray you heed His word. # # # Do you want your children to go to hell? What?? Why would you ask such a question?! I know that's probably going through your mind right now.  So, why would I ask a question like this? Because GOD is asking this of YOU!! It's time we stop sitting back, letting others do what we should be doing.  Stop waiting for the day to 'meet me at the flag pole' to pray for our children.  It's OUR...

What's My Passion? What's my passion? I've been pondering this question since yesterday.  I have always loved writing, it helps to get my thoughts in order.  I can remember sitting on the rock wall in our front yard jotting down lyrics to a song or poem.  It was during my early teens where I believe God had given me the gift to create beautiful pictures with words.  I look back at some of the songs and poems that I've written and I see how the Lord has brought me out of the valleys.  It reminds me that even in my most loneliest, darkest times, God was still with me.  The bible says that He, God, will never leave us nor forsake us.  I believe with my whole heart that He never will.  I also believe with my whole heart that I can hide under the shadow of the Almighty and find rest in Him. Writing is my passion, but somewhere somehow I lost sight of it.  I began to doubt that this was my calling, my way of 's...

Whose Eyes Are We Looking Through?

This morning as I listened to a sermon given by one of the ministers at ORU, the question, "When we look in the mirror, how do we see ourselves", was asked.  I sat and thought about it for a moment until I had finally come up with an answer.  Sometimes I look in the mirror and see myself as the weak-minded defeated little girl who is easily deceived.  Who tries so hard, but is unable to stand strong against the enemy.  That's when I know that my walk with the Lord is on shaky ground and I need to draw closer to Him.  I see the storm raging around me, but I know that He is there, keeping me under His shadow.  I cry out to Him for help knowing that He hears me because His Word says, "I will never leave you nor forsake you" (Hebrews 13:5).  The waves of loneliness, worry, and fear demand to break through and crash down on me, but the One who IS greater blocks even the smallest ripple.  He loves m...

Remaining in God's Presence - Psalm 91

As I read Psalm 91(NKJV), it tells me that "he who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty."   What does it mean to dwell? -To reside, lodge, or stay put.-  When we dwell in the presence of God, we are drawing nearer to Him.  James 4:8 tells us "draw near to God and He will draw near to you."   Our eyes should be focused on God and nothing else.  Whenever we take our eyes off of God, it can become 'all about me and what I want' and we miss what He has in store for us.  We begin to pull away from God and lose sight of what He wants, to have a relationship with us and to bless us.  When we are so far from His presence and focused on me, myself, and I, the easier it becomes for the enemy to creep in and fill our heads with negativity.  Our focus is no longer on the Almighty and we are no longer abiding under His shadow.      Who wouldn't want to...

Welcome!!

Hello everyone and welcome to my new blog! :) Why do I call it 'My Pulelehua Inspirations'? Pulelehua in Hawaiian means butterfly and I have always loved butterflies. They are just one of God's beautiful creations! When I taught preschool years ago back home in Hawaii, I called my class Pulelehua. A room FULL of beautiful creations designed by God who inspired me daily as they explored and learned new things. Remembering the excitement on their faces when everything clicked, just fills my heart with joy. My prayer is that you'll find some inspiration here to get you through a rough day or situation you may be facing. Have a blessed day!! <3 Lisa
