Ignite Summer Youth Camp - 2017
Last week Thursday we made the two hour+ drive to Warrenton, OR for Youth Summer Camp. This was the first youth camp that Jeff and I have been a part of, we were excited and nervous at the same time. Surprisingly, the kids were energized after the long bus ride, while I was ready for lights out haha! Hey I'm old! lol After a time of devotions, they played games and a nacho bar was set up for snacks. Then it was lights out HALLELUJAH!! 😊
We spent most of Friday down in Seaside where the five teams challenged each other in arcade games, scavenger hunt, and other fun events. We went to Sunset Beach and watched the beautiful sunset, (I wished I remembered to take a picture!), played volleyball and a VERY competitive game of tug of war. **Everyone stands in a circle holding approximately 2' of rope in each hand. A trash can is placed in the middle and the object is to get a person to either touch the trash can or let go of the rope. Last man standing is the winner.** Hotdogs and chips were on the menu, (S'mores were eaten at the church because the tide came up faster than I've ever seen!). I think the kids had fun roasting the hotdogs over the fire. Or maybe it was an excuse to play with the fire? 😉 Even though there were many distractions all around us, GOD STILL MOVED!! It was a great time of worship and sharing testimonies of what God has done in their lives. When we got back to the church, I sat in one of the chairs and just looked around at all the youth and leaders. Lots of laughter, lots of fellowship and most of all I could still feel God's presence. All I could do was thank Him for the relationships that were being built between one another and that we would all have a deeper relationship with Him.
Saturday morning during our devotion time, those who wanted got to share their testimony. Again, I sat back in tears as I listened to them poor out their hearts. It blessed me to see two of the youth jump at the opportunity to pray over the communion. During that service, about eight of them either rededicated or gave their hearts to Christ Jesus! Walls were being broken and hearts were beginning to mend.
God moved the entire time we were in Warrenton and my continuous prayer is that the youth, as well as the leaders, will remain fired up and ready to dig deeper in the Word. Thank You Jesus for such an awesome time!!
Blessings,
Lisa
